WinShortcutter “Copy Path/Copy URL” service and context Menu: There you can also define a keyboard shortcut for the service. The service is named “Open as Windows Link”. Note that you will have to activate this service in the “Keyboard” System Preferences under Services. Starting with Release 2.2 you can also use local directory strings in the service. Your windows colleagues in the office typically email links in this format. The selected string needs to be in the form \\hostname>\ \. To use the service, simply select the according text and choose the Service named “Open as Windows Link” in the application menu or use the context menu. ![]() Īre you referring to how you might activate WinShortcutter’s Service options? If so, following these instructions: This entry was posted in Uncategorized by Brad. Also note, I now disable “Copy URL to Clipboard” in Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts as it doesn’t really seem to provide any value. I’m amazed that Lomotomo’s free WinShortcutter 3.5 still works under Monterey. Tech-Arrow’s user manual led me to configuring Services properly by going to System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts and putting a check next to “Open as Windows Link” and “Copy Path to Clipboard”. I was then able to finish configuring WinShortcutter again, which included getting the Services menu to let me copy Windows files paths for outgoing emails. When I re-entered System Preferences, it failed to import my old WinShortcutter settings, but now the window fully expands to show the advanced settings, woohoo! If you don’t have a copy, feel free to use mine. I had the fortune of grabbing a copy of the above. What's the coolest tech thing you've done using OS X? This always reminds us to write software that gives a user the best benefit instead of delivering the most fancy technical solution. The Mac is designed from a users perspective, not a technical one. Thanks to Apple we finally made it into Intel World (not sure yet If we should feel comfortable there yet.) This was followed by a number of fully or semi home built systems with not particularly mainstream architectures: 68k, DEC Alpha and PPC. The first computer we put our hands on was a Commodore VIC-20. We started Lobotomo Software in fall 2003 - when we thought of a bunch of tools interesting enough to share. How long have you been doing what you do? Lobotomo Software is not really a company, but a hobby creating cool tools that are missing in OS X (until we make them).
